<image:title>Thibault Liger Belair - “Burgundy’s New Super Star”</image:title>
<image:caption>Thibault Liger-Belair comes from a great winemaking family that has deep roots in Burgundy: he is a direct descendant of the Napoleonic General Louis Liger- Belair, who acquired the Chateau de Vosne in 1815 when he married Ludovie Marey, whose family had been Burgundy negociants since 1720. Here is the ultimate play in red Burgundy – bringing together power, depth of flavor, and elegance on the palate while maintaining complex aromatics at the same time. In other words, it has it all. The nose bursts with black cherry, savoury underbrush, granite minerality, truffles, and hints of wood smoke and ripe strawberries all at the same time. -Rajiv Kehr</image:caption>

<image:title>Thibault Liger Belair - Thibault Liger Belair Moulin a Vent Les Vieilles Vignes</image:title>
<image:caption>Moulin-a-Vent is known as the king of Beaujolias for its power, structure and longevity. This wine comes from a vineyard that is high up on the slope with pink sand soil. 65 - 95 year old vines gives this wine exceptional character. This is the flagship wine of Thibault’s Domaine in Beaujolas in the Southern part of Burgundy. It’s a blend of 9 parcels that yields a glossy, rich and luxurious wine that is perfect on its own or paired with everything including kebabs.</image:caption>

<image:title>Thibault Liger Belair - Thibault Liger Belair Bourgogne Les Grands Chaillots</image:title>
<image:caption>This is another great value wine made by Thibault. Even though its a Bourgogne the wine is made from parcels in prime locations with the main parcel situated just behind the Premier Cru plot of Les Bousselots in the commune of Nuits Saint-Georges". This places it in the Northern part of the appellation close to Vosne-Romanée. This wine is suitable for drinking early though it has the ability to also age.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Thibault Liger Belair - Thibault Liger-Belair Chambolle-Musigny, Vieilles Vignes</image:title>
<image:caption>Thibault’s Chambolle-Musigny fits the mould perfectly when one thinks of a wine from the village of Chambolle which is famous for producing the most elegant wines in the Côte de Nuits. It is a blend of five to nine parcels situated in the Northern part of the village. The vines are at least 50 years old. Thibault uses around 30 - 40 percent whole-bunch for this wine. There is lots of pretty, floral fruit here and an intensely silky, seductive texture that is impossible not to love. Absolutely stunning. Drink 2020-2026.</image:caption>

<image:caption>The motto of the House of Delamotte is “Vive et Ma Ama” …. Live and Love me. Delamotte is the 5th oldest champagne house founded more than 250 years back by Francois Delamotte. Chevalier Nicolas Louis Delamotte, organized in 1825 the splendid celebrations for the coronation of Charles X, King of France. It is the sister house of Champagne Salon, considered the greatest expression of a Blanc de Blanc from the Grand Cru terroir of Le Mesnil sur Oger planted to 100% Chardonnay. With its chalky soil and cool climate, chardonnay reaches its greatest heights bringing freshness, acidity and complexity that is unrivalled in any other region.</image:caption>

<image:caption>A superlative expression of Grand Cru chardonnay of champagne. Vineyard location is the key that guides Delamotte’s expression, defining the house’s elegant and focussed style of wine. A house like no other with all its vineyards sourced from the Grands Crus of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Avize and Cramant for chardonnay, Delamotte is one of the very few négociants to cultivate such a passion for the expression of this unique ward of Champagne.</image:caption>

<image:title>Pascal Prunier Bonheur - The 5th generation of the wine growing family Pascal Prunier-Bonheur took over the estate in 1983. Pascal aims to make honest and upstanding wines as he feels that to do otherwise would be cheating his vines, his customers and himself. He manages to do that by combining traditional methods with modern techniques.</image:title>
<image:caption>Today the Domaine is 8ha covering several plots from Saint-Romain to Beaune both at the Village and Premier Cru level. His cellar is located in Meursault around the corner from Jean-Marc Roulot. His wines, both red and white, are fine, balanced, authentic, and enjoyable young as well as after many years of cellaring.</image:caption>

<image:title>Pascal Prunier Bonheur - Beaune Les Prévoles Rouge</image:title>
<image:caption>A must buy wine from the famous appellation Beaune in burgundy. A tiny well situated plot just South of Beaune of 0.35 Ha means the wine is hard to get. Very old vines adds to the minerality and complexity. It delivers a big bang for the buck. Sadly this wine will no longer be available for several years as Pascal has decided to replant the entire vineyard which was very old. We will keep a look out when to add it back to our portfolio.</image:caption>

<image:title>Pascal Prunier Bonheur - Beaune Clos Saint Désire Blanc</image:title>
<image:caption>Heir to a long tradition of family winemaker, Pascal continues to work his vineyards and wines by linking the best tradition and current methods. Maintained voluntarily on a human scale. This wine comes from a plot situated high up just above Clos des Mouches. The soil is perfect for Chardonnay. A perfect mixture of limestone and chalk. I believe this plot has benefited on account of global warming. This wine appeals to all lovers of white burgundy. A personal favourite.</image:caption>

All of their estates have the same philosophy to produce wines representative of their terroir! Chateau Potensac’s terroir is very similar to St-Estephe producing wines with long ageing potential inspite of their sublime silky elegance. It is a large Pauillac estate that can trace its origins back to 1725, when Jean-François Pontet gave his name to the estate he had acquired. The wine was not château-bottled until 1972 and in 1975 the property was sold to Guy Tesseron, one of the finest exponents of very old, aged Cognacs. Pauillac is the aristocrat of the Médoc boasting boasting 75 percent of the region’s First Growths. Pontet-Canet's 78 hectares of vineyards adjoin those of Mouton Rothschild.</image:caption>

Called the hill of 1,000 châteaux, Saint-Émilion is home to the Right Bank’s most prestigious estates. Among the most renowned of these is Chateau Simard’s sibling, Chateau Ausone. It is one of only two estates classified in 1955 as Premiers Grand Crus Classés A. Château Simard’s vineyard has excellent exposure and predominantly clay soil mixed with sand and gravel. It is surrounded by the regions first growth vineyards. <image:caption>I was totally blown away when I first tasted La Croix St Georges with Jean-Philippe Jeanoueix. It was the quintessential Pomerol and yet I had never heard of this wine. I always like to follow up such impressions with a visit to the estate to reconfirm my impressions. That’s when I understood there is a reason for why his wine is so special. His plot borders Le Pin on 2 sides and we all know the astronomical price that Le Pin fetches. Its not just that. Jean-Philippe uses 4 different coopers and the barrels have 2 different shapes. I am a big fan!</image:caption>

The Thienpont family own many famous estates in Pomerol & Saint Emilion - Le Pin, Vieux Chateau Certan, Pavie Macquin & Château Puygueraud. Franc lies east of St. Emilion. Its terroir is mainly made up of clay and limestone soils in rolling hillsides. It is ideal for making red wines mainly from Merlot grapes. The vineyard is born from a shifting tract of land which, on no less than six occasions, have given it its precious gravels from the Pyrenees. Outstanding terroirs brought into the spotlight by visionary Pierre de Rauzan and sanctified by the famous 1855 classification. Château Rauzan-Ségla has been lovingly growing the Cabernet Sauvignons and Merlots, which form the basis of its blend, for over 350 years. The domaine’s exceptional soils produce remarkably well-structured wines in which intensity and finesse conspire to stand the test of time.</image:caption>

<image:title>Domaine Duroche Gevrey-Chambertin - Pierre makes wines of great elegance and finesse. The aromatics burst forth on release of the cork to reveal a wine that has the texture of a classic pinot combined with the minerality and tension coming from the fact that most of his parcels are very old. The best part about his wines are that they are approachable in their youth but also have ageing potential.</image:title>
<image:caption>Pierre is the 5th generation of his family to run the Domaine which saw them first bottle their wines back in 1933. The Domaine is of a reasonable size with holdings of 8.25 Ha all in the commune of Gevrey-Chambertin comprising village, Premier Cru and Grand Cru wines. <image:title>Domaine de Villaine Bouzeron - Reach for the Stars</image:title>
<image:caption>Aubert de Villaine, co director of Domaine de la Romanee Conti, and his wife Pamela came and settled in the village of Bouzeron in 1971 and set up Domaine de Villaine. Bouzeron is nestled in the Côte Chalonnaise region between Chassagne-Montrachet and Santenay to the north and Rully and Mercurey to the south. The monks of the great Abbey of Cluny first planted vines here in the twelfth century, leaving a legacy that has endured for centuries. Since 2000 Domaine de Villaine is managed by their nephew Pierre de Benoist. The Domaine recently expanded with the acquisition of Domaine de la Brelière in Rully followed by Domaine St Michel thereby adding wines from Rully and Mercurey to their portfolio. In many ways I admire Pierre a lot. He reminds me of his uncle Aubert bringing a deeper vision and spiritual outlook to his work. Here in this photo Pierre is seen signing and presenting me a book about the Côte Chalonnaise. I love the wines of Domaine de Villaine. There is an extra dimension to the wines. It surpasses taste, balance, authenticity, precision and all such adjectives that come to mind. If I may so, the wines reflect a good breeding. They stand apart from the pack but ever so subtly and elegantly. -Rajiv Kehr</image:caption>

<image:title>Domaine de Villaine Bouzeron - Bourgogne Côte Chalonnaise La Digoine</image:title>
<image:caption>La Digoine is a site at the foot of a slope, known for centuries to provide the deep soil and growing conditions necessary for excellent red wine. Wine is fermented and aged in wood tanks with a minimum 2/3 of the stems, depending on the vintage. The vines planted on clay and limestone soils have an age in the range of 35 - 45 years. La Digoine can be drunk very young after aeration. It has an immediate appeal with red berry fruit and a balance of roundness, structure, and length on the palate. However patience will be rewarded. Jasper Morris gives this wine his highest rating of 5 stars and goes on to say “Lovely limestone finish and very long backbone!”</image:caption>

The vineyard is planted with selections of Chardonnay grapes that have been chosen for moderate yields. The vines planted on clay and limestone soils have an age in the range of 20 - 55 years. It is the Domaine’s 2nd largest plot, 3.4 Ha in size. 80% of the wine is raised in foudres of size 30 - 40 l and 20% is raised in barrels.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Bouzeron is the sole Aligoté-only appellation in Burgundy. This is where Aligoté and its strain Aligoté Doré thrives. Domaine de Villaine’s Bouzeron comes from vines situated on the best slopes of the appellations. They have planted the golden Aligoté doré grape, which gives lowers yield and more aromatic wines than its cousin, the Aligoté vert. True to its varietal nature, Bouzeron is a lively, fruity wine, but it also has a finesse and roundness that spring from the essential nature of the terroir.</image:caption>

In the 2017 vintage, Pierre Duroche & his wife Marianne began purchasing a small amount of fruit from her family, adding both Vosne-Romanée Village and Echezeaux Grand Cru to their already impressive ensemble of terroirs. Domaine bottling in Burgundy can be said to have begun in Volnay. Guillaume’s grandfather, Sem, was a critic of the fraudulent practice very much prevalent back then of blending the wines of Burgundy with lesser wines by the negociants. He began to bottle and sell his wines under his own label. Guillaume d’Angerville continues the family tradition of looking after the estate which has been in their family since Baron du Mesnil acquired Clos des Ducs in 1804. He previously worked as an Investment banker before taking over the estate after his father Jacques passed away in 2003. At Chateau Chavanes in Montigny-les-Arsures, they created a state of the art winery surrounded by 5 hectares of biodynamically farmed vines that had been impeccably replanted 10 years prior by former owner Francois de Chavanes. The domaine is supported by an additional 5 hectares of chemically-free vines formerly farmed by Jean-Marc Brignot at a site of high-quality geology and exposure. I immediately followed this up with a visit to his cellar in Meursault. I was hooked by then. His wines have a purity, they are balanced, authentic, and enjoyable young as well as after many years of cellaring. You can just sit back and enjoy them. They say wine is made in the vineyard. It defines the quality of the grape. Pascal, is warm and shy, has a natural flair to deliver stunning quality. <image:title>Domaine du Cerberon Meursault - The Discovery</image:title>
<image:caption>Summer of 2019. 6:13 PM my wife and I step off the TGV at Gare de Montparnasse. We had just spent a week touring the vineyards of Bordeaux. It was a warm summer evening and I was dying to have a few bottles of good white burgundy. We went straight from the station to the restaurant where I had already booked a table for 4. I knew I was sure of finding a good bottle of Coche Dury which is by far the reference and the most highly sought after white burgundy in the world. The wines of Jean Francois are highly coveted and fetch astronomic prices with collectors paying more for a village Bourgogne of Coche Dury then the price of a Premier Cru from an established Domaine. I knew the sommelier and he decided to test me by serving a bottle blind. It tasted like a Coche Dury. That’s how I came to discover the wines of Domaine du Cerberon which share the same flinty nose as a Coche. You can read about them below. In 2008, the famous Hachette guide described Domaine du Cerberon located in the heart of Meursault as a ‘pocket estate’ with its small amount of vineyards of just about 2.84 Ha. Its caves were established in the 13th century by the Citeaux monks. and it’s in the same family ownership for the past 150 years. -Rajiv Kehr</image:caption>

      <image:title>Domaine de la Janasse - Elegance & Finesse</image:title>
<image:caption>Christophe with assistance from Aimé and Isabelle, manages the common rusticity of Grenache-based wines through meticulous work in the vineyards and cellar. The result is a wide range of rich and flavorful Châteauneuf-du- Papes, Cotes-du-Rhônes and Vins de Pays that are complex and balanced – often in contradiction to a region better known for sheer exuberance and power. Very much like a Chateau Rayas! <image:title>Domaine de la Janasse - History</image:title>
<image:caption>“Some of the world’s greatest values today come from the Southern Rhône.... ” – Jeb Dunnuck Domaine de la Janasse was founded in 1976 by Aimé Sabon, the father of Christophe and Isabelle, who still oversees the vineyards. The property consists of 40 hectares, spread over as many as 70 different parcels throughout the appellation. While Aimé works in the vineyards, his children, Christophe and Isabelle, are in charge of wine production. Christophe is a self-proclaimed “great defender of Grenache,” which still represents 75% of their vines. The critics are unanimous in their acclaim. Well deserved - high praise! “Domaine de la Janasse has become one of the half dozen or so finest estates in Châteauneuf-du-Pape.” - Robert Parker “The quality is top notch and Domaine de la Janasse is a hidden gem for the moment. Don’t expect it to stay that way for long.” – Jeb Dunnuck "From his top Châteauneuf-du-Pape cuvées down through his Vin de Pays Rosé, Christophe Sabon gets quality into every bottle.” - James Molesworth</image:caption>

      <image:title>Domaine de la Janasse - Châteauneuf-du-Pape</image:title>
<image:caption>The Chateauneuf-du-Pape Rouge from Domaine de la Janasse is sourced from a wide variety of terroirs, totaling about 10 hectares, located in the northern part of the appellation and supplemented with a small portion of fruit from Le Crau. About 2/3 Grenache in most vintages, the rest of the blend includes varying amounts of Syrah, Mourvedre and Cinsault. Harvested by hand, the fruit is mostly destemmed (about 20% whole clusters are retained) with fermentation in vat. Macerations average between 21-28 days with daily, manual pigeage. The wine is then aged in foudre (80%) and French oak barrels (20%) of which a third are new.</image:caption>

It resembles the style of Rayas, as many of Janasse's vines are planted on similarly sandy soils around the town of Courthézon, but there's more obvious richness and darker fruit in the wines.</image:caption>

<image:title>Domaine Meo Camuzet Vosne-Romanée - Founder Étienne Camuzet was not only a passionate vigneron, but a full-time politician, and spent most of his time in Paris, representing the Côte d’Or. In order to keep his land in use, he offered it to capable métayeurs, or share-croppers to farm.</image:title>
<image:caption>In the early 1980s, as many of the métayeurs were starting to retire, it became clear that the domaine needed a new direction. Jean Nicolas Meo who had spent most of his life decided to reclaim the vineyards and bottle the wines under his own label. He enlisted the help of Henri Jayer who had been a share-cropper at their estate for over 40 years, bottling the wines under his own label including the famed Cros Parantoux. He mentored Jean Nicolas for 3 years. The Domaine is in a very good spot at the moment as most of the vineyards are very old with most planted in the 50’s or earlier with the vines of Corton Clos Rognet Grand Cru now approaching almost 100 years.</image:caption>

<image:caption>The Domaine celebrated its 60 years which also coincided with 30 years of Jean Nicolas Meo at the helm of this historic Domaine in Vosne Romanee in 2019. Sadly I could not attend the celebrations at Clos Vougeot where the Domaine had invited those who had interned at the Domaine for the past 30 years. Many of these interns such as Olivier Lamy, Arnaud Mortet and Nicolas Rouget have gone on to become famous on their own. A beautiful book was brought out by Nathalie Meo to commemorate this. A Mathusalem of Echezeaux 1976 made by Henri Jayer, was one of the stunning wines served at this dinner.</image:caption>

Vines now almost 100 years old, planted in the 1920’s of the finest selection of Pinot Noir known as Pinot fin. e appeals to all lovers of white burgundy. A personal favourite. "Perrières” refers to "stones” and you will immediately understand why when you look at the soil which contains numerous round stones, often pink in colour. Very old vines planted in 1953-54. It’s easy to think of the wine as typical of a Corton but either give it plenty of age or an extended decanting and you will be rewarded with a wine of infinite complexity that can rival the best!</image:caption>

Of the 14 Premier Crus in Vosne Romanee Les Chaumes offers plenty even at a young age. There is much finesse and elegance in this wine, very typical of the Vosne-Romanée appellation. It’s also moderately priced due to its large size of 6 Ha. Meo-Camuzet are fortunate to own 2 parcels totalling 2 Ha at the foot of La Tache and Les Malconsorts. The vines were planted in the 1950’s and 1970’s. “The reference standards Domaine Méo-Camuzet” … Allen Meadows, Burghound</image:caption>

<image:title>Domaine Meo Camuzet Vosne-Romanée - Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru</image:title>
<image:caption>Clos de Vougeot also known as Clos Vougeot is the largest Grand Cru vineyard in the Cote de Nuits part of Burgundy. The vineyard has a wall on all 4 sides thats why its known as a Clos. It was created by the Cistercian monks of the Citeaux Abbey. Burgundy owes the concept of terroir to them! Château de Clos Vougeot which is home to the Confrerie des Chevaliers du Tastevin was at one point of time owned by Etienne Camuzet . The best parcels are situated adjacent to the Chateau which is where Meo’s parcels are located in this large appellation of approximately 50 Ha.</image:caption>

<image:title>Domaine Meo Camuzet Vosne-Romanée - Fixin Premier Cru Clos du Chapitre</image:title>
<image:caption>The Clos du Chapitre is situated in the heart of the village of Fixin, below the Clos de la Perrière, famous for its wine-press built by the Cistercian monks. In the higher part, the slopes are still quite steep and the rows of vines are planted north-south in order to limit erosion. It's a charming site, but you soon realise that the vines are not easy to work. In recent years Meo Camuzet has considerably widened its portfolio by a substantial negoce business with some enviable crus of which this is certainly one. The natural characteristics of this terroir very much suits the Meo style of lush roundness that can be approached young but has good ageing potential. Fixin is another site that benefits greatly due to global warming.</image:caption>

<image:title>Domaine Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier Chambolle Musigny - The soft spoken Frederic Mugnier, the fifth generation of the family, heads the Domaine since 1985. Prior to taking over his family estate Frederic was an offshore engineer and even worked as a commercial pilot.</image:title>
<image:caption>For a generation all of the vines were leased to others. Clos de la Marechale was a flagship wine for Faiveley for well over 50 years. Frederic has since taken control of all his holdings which includes Musigny and Bonnes Mares Grand Cru, Chambolle Musigny Les Amoureuses and Les Fuees Premier Cru, Clos de la Marechale Premier Cru and Chambolle-Musigny. The Domaine is the second largest owner of Le Musigny. Part was planted in 1948 and the remainder in 1962, so this is now an old vine cuvée throughout. Just 20-25% new wood is used in this ethereal wine which is as sumptuous as any example of Musigny, despite Frédéric’s understated handling.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Domaine Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier Chambolle Musigny - Chambolle Musigny</image:title>
<image:caption>It is a very smart buy which is why the wine is so difficult to source. Chambolle-Musigny is assembled from two named plots of vines:– – La Combe d’Orveau, covering approximately 0.77 hectares (1.9 acres) was planted over several periods from 1952 to 1998 and the Premier Cru plot of Les Plantes, covering approximately 0.56 hectares (1.4 acres) and planted in 1968-69 which Frederick chooses to blend with this wine which makes it very special. This wine is recognisable by its intense bouquet which is simultaneously fruity, floral and very delicate. To complement the aromas, the wine has a supple structure that is always light and fine; the finish is long and blossoming on the palate. Key words to describe our Chambolle Musigny include subtlety, delicacy, but equally charm, joy, brilliance. The wine captivates and the memory will linger forever.</image:caption>

<image:title>Domaine Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier Chambolle Musigny - Nuits St Georges Premier Cru Clos de la Marechale</image:title>
<image:caption>This is a very special vineyard situated between Comblanchien and Premeaux. It has a wall on all 4 sides which is why its called a Clos (meaning enclosure in French). The Cistercian monks often walled important vineyards. This helped to protect the vineyard from theft and sometimes even influenced the microclimate. In addition to being a Clos it is also owned exclusively by the Mugnier family, since 1902 when they bought it from the Marey Monge family, which makes it a monopole. Le Clos is a 9 ha 76 ares plot. It has the distinction of being the largest monopole in Côte d'Or. Clos de la Maréchale finally returned back to the control of the Mugnier family after the rental contract with Faiveley ended after 53 years on 1st November, 2003. The geological stratum on which the Clos de la Maréchale is situated is the same as in Le Montrachet. That combined with an average age of 60 years for the vines and Fredy’s magical touch makes this a personal favourite.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Created in 2001, the Pierre-Yves Colin Morey Domaine which he runs with his wife Caroline, extends over 13 hectares in Saint Aubin and Chassagne-Montrachet appellations. I have been impressed everytime I met Pierre Yves. He comes across as a person who thinks deeply, fully embraces technology where necessary but at the same time is gifted in viticulture. Its almost paradoxical, calmness and energy. That seems to reflect in his wines which are highly sought after all over the world. His choice to use larger demi-muid barrels and eschew the use of battonnage, makes each one of his bottlings a clear expression of its terroir and a study in mineral-driven Chardonnay. These two vineyards have much in common sharing similar soil composition, exposure to the sun, orientation and flavour. There is a rich textural beauty to this wine which almost places it on par with a Grand Cru from some estates. This wine delivers everything, some pear, lemon zest, floral notes while at the same time it manages to be ample as well as mineral. You would almost think its a Premier Cru. ’Also a hint of sulfur but also with an extra depth of aroma. Fuller, less directly energetic but, beautifully flavoured. Pale colour with light green tint. Fine and floral bouquet after some initial reduction, which resurfaces at the back. Splendid energy." (1/2019) The 2017 Bourgogne Chardonnay offers up pretty aromas of green apples, citrus oil, lime cordial, white flowers and a subtle touch of wheat toast. <image:caption>Domaine Daniel et Julien Barraud is not only the source of Vergisson’s finest organic wines but also is the standard for world class white Burgundy from the Mâconnais. Encircled by the emblematic rock of Solutré and Vergisson, Domaine Barraud is situated in a village classified as Grand Site de France - Great Sights of France. The petit hamlet of Vergisson, with its limestone soils and high-altitude vineyards, is where the region’s finest wines are made. In order to obtain the most healthy and wholesome grape possible, harvesting is done by hand, limiting oxidation. They are certified organic. -Rajiv Kehr</image:caption>

The Macon Chaintre “Les Pierres Polies” by Domaine Barraud is a fantastic “entry-level” white Burgundy from the family that has defined Vergisson greatness for generations. Basically there’s nothing basic about this wine, chock-full of powerful lemony energy and lots of mineral edge. A gorgeous wine for summer and all year round in India. Ticks all the right boxes. <image:caption>The history of Montfaucon Castle dates back to the 11th century, when the first tower of the castle was built. The castle was enlarged in the Middle Ages, it then acquired the triangular shape which it retains today. The restoration and extension of the castle were carried out in the 1880s by Baron Louis. The new facade recalls the Scottish style, the result of maternal influences. The castle retained its shape, making it the only triangular castle still inhabited today. Wine has been made at Chateau de Montfaucon since the XVIth century. It is located in Montfaucon in the heart of Rhone Valley, on the right bank of the river Rhône, barely a 15 minute drive from Chateauneuf-du-Pape. As far back as 1829 they bottled and sold wine in Paris under their own label “Vin de Monsieur Baron de Montfaucon.”</image:caption>

His skill and enthusiasm coupled with truly fabulous vineyard holdings (which include Caillerets, La Romanee and Grande Ruchottes) make a formidable combination. Thierry favours wines of tension and transparency, he achieves this through not picking too late and reducing the influence of oak in the ageing process. The wines are rarely matured in more than 10% new oak and he uses a mixture of barrique and larger demi-muids barrels. Scintillating, vivid Burgundies that offer a clear lens on terroir.</image:caption>

<image:caption>A contender for the finest Bourgogne Blanc. It comes from a very well situated, 0.6-hectare parcel on a northeast-facing hillside just south of Chassagne. The vines here are now 35 years old. It's racy and layered. Expect a spicy, crystal-pure white Burgundy with lovely cut, thrust and a crunchy, pithy grapefruit-scented personality together with a lovely dollop of lemon curd richness at the core. It gets better and better with air, always a good sign with a young white Burgundy. Super classy and great value for money.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Domaine Paul Pillot - Chassagne-Montrachet Les Mazures</image:title>
<image:caption>Even though its a village wine it rivals a Premier Cru in finesse and complexity especially at a younger age. Not surprising since the vineyard is situated just below the Premier Cru vineyard Les Champs Gains. “Clear pale colour with a fresh, cool, zesty nose that shows elegance while the palate delivers the flesh, even some sucrosity. Apparently half the vineyard was picked on 27th August at 12.3% and half on 3rd September at 13%. The balance of the blend between the two is really lovely.” … Jasper Morris. Rated at the highest level by Jasper Morris with 5 stars. Very old vines here, Thierry’s favourite especially for ageing. The colour is pale and the bouquet backward but clearly hiding concentration. There is a density here over and above all the others. No deeper in alcohol but this is powerful stuff which will develop greater elegance as time goes by. I see why this is Thierry’s favourite! <image:caption>I was at a wine tasting event in Beaune. There were many famous vignerons there including some of my favourites. I went around the room tasting all the famous wines. Its then I turned my attention to unknown producers. I stopped at Pascals table to give his wines a try. One sip is all it took for me to take note. It’s much more than the sum of his calloused hands, old vines neighbouring famous plots and attention to detail in the vineyard. …. a gifted warm hearted man and his wines reflect that!</image:caption>

Lovely texture on the long finish. Blind, you'd call this Premier Cru. With this cuvée, opt for noble fish, shellfish and other seafood. The wines are vinified, aged in vats and barrels for a period of 12 to 18 months depending on the appellations. Louis Michel & Fils has always been a family business, and is managed today by Guillaume Michel, who takes great pride in perpetuating the Domaines ethos. The family vineyard, whose vines are 45 years old on average, is located in the heart of the original Chablis terroir, on the most prestigious parcels within a radius of two kilometres from the winery. The vineyards of the Domaine are concentrated on the first slopes to be farmed by Cistercian monks during the 11th century.</image:caption>

<image:title>Our Portfolio - Switzerland - Founded in 1982, Gantenbein is widely considered to be one of the best wine estates in Switzerland. It is located in the Graubünden (Grisons) district of the upper Rhine valley in eastern Switzerland, one of the most breathtakingly beautiful places on Earth. Not far from here, high up in the Alps, the Rhine begins its long journey to the Atlantic. At the foot of the Alps, in the small village of Fläsch, is the gravity-flow winery of Daniel and Martha Gantenbein; a marvel of design simplicity, ingenuity and mechanical precision. Even in a good vintage, the yields are quite low — only about 1.5 tons per acre, for an average production of about 1,200 cases of Pinot Noir and about 200 cases of a fine, mineral-focused Chardonnay.</image:title>

<image:title>Our Portfolio - Italy - Tasting multi vintages of Barolo with Alessandro Locatelli in La Morra</image:title>
<image:caption>Rocche Costamagna has a long glorious history dating back to 1841 when Luigi Costamagna was granted a Royal Decree to trade in wine with the grapes from his vineyard in La Morra. They went onto distinguish themselves by winning a Gold Medal at the International Exhibition Grand Prix in Turin in 1911. More than 30 countries participated in this Trade fair which attracted a staggering 4 Million visitors to this grand exhibition spread over 247 acres. There can be few family wineries in the world today with such a long history dedicated to bottling and selling their own production. The jewel in the crown of their 14ha is one of the great Crus of the Langhe, Rocche dell’Annunziata. Since the mid-1980s a direct descendant of the same family, Alessandro Locatelli, has been managing the winery with the help of agronomist Gian Piero Romana and enologist Giuseppe Caviola. Alessandro has truly taken quality at this fine estate to great heights, producing wines of ravishing charm, nuance and elegance.</image:caption>

The family has always looked to develop and celebrate the diversity of Tuscany’s terroir, being proud owners of some of the greatest vineyards in this region. They always seek to maintain the identity and autonomy of each property. ORNELLAIA, perceived as one of the world’s iconic wineries, has flourished under the Frescobaldi family’s ownership. <image:title>Our Portfolio - France - Bordeaux</image:title>
<image:caption>“Without standards, there could be no Bordeaux wine, no style. Standards keep alive all that is pure and timeless.”…. Jacques Chardonne Bordeaux where cabernet sauvignon finds its perfect expression, made fashionable by the English, needs to be admired for the simplicity of the 1855 classification drawn up more than 150 years back on the orders of Napoleon III. This hierarchy has inspired others to emulate. The list drawn up a century and a half ago surprisingly continues to remain relevant today. As Hugh Johnson writes “A hundred and fifty years later it is not the last word, but it remains the first.” Bordeaux offers a huge diversity in style from its many famous regions such as St. Estephe, Pauillac, Saint-Julien, Margaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan and Sauternes on the left bank and Pomerol and Saint-Emilion on the right bank to name a few.</image:caption>

In the Mosel’s steep, slate vineyards, the winemaking master Egon Müller makes breathtaking Rieslings. The estate owns 8.3 of the 28 hectares of the famous Scharzhofberg vineyard in Germany’s Mosel-Saar-Ruwer region. The Scharzhofberg, or Scharzhof Mountain, is among the finest Riesling sites in Germany and is considered Grand Cru. As such, it is allowed to be labeled with its vineyard name, or “Einzellage”, rather than its village name. The Müller holdings here include a parcel of un-grafted vines that were planted in the 19th century. These wines deliver at the highest level of quality and are without question among the world’s great wines. They are fine, balanced, authentic, and enjoyable young as well as after many years of cellaring.
