Bouzeron is nestled in the Côte Chalonnaise region between Chassagne-Montrachet and Santenay to the north and Rully and Mercurey to the south. The monks of the great Abbey of Cluny first planted vines here in the twelfth century, leaving a legacy that has endured for centuries. La Digoine can be drunk very young after aeration. It has an immediate appeal with red berry fruit and a balance of roundness, structure, and length on the palate. However patience will be rewarded. We had just spent a week touring the vineyards of Bordeaux. It was a warm summer evening and I was dying to have a few bottles of good white burgundy. We went straight from the station to the restaurant where I had already booked a table for 4. I knew I was sure of finding a good bottle of Coche Dury which is by far the reference and the most highly sought after white burgundy in the world. The wines of Jean Francois are highly coveted and fetch astronomic prices with collectors paying more for a village Bourgogne of Coche Dury then the price of a Premier Cru from an established Domaine. I knew the sommelier and he decided to test me by serving a bottle blind. It tasted like a Coche Dury. That’s how I came to discover the wines of Domaine du Cerberon which share the same flinty nose as a Coche. You can read about them below. It has the distinction of being the largest monopole in Côte d'Or.
